Two worlds under one roof
You stay on the ground floor of the oldest of the three houses in the courtyard — the upper floor isn't renovated yet. A door connects the gîte directly to our house, just behind it: it stays locked throughout your stay, the place is entirely yours. Need anything? We're right next door, a message or a simple knock is enough.
Three family houses stand one behind the other in the courtyard: Quentin grew up in the one at the front, where his parents still live. The gîte occupies the middle house, the oldest of the three — the workshop of his great-grandfather Paul Fahrner, a tailor. His grandfather René, also a tailor and known as "Babeba", built the house at the back, where Quentin and his wife Mihika now live after renovating it.
Alsace is in the walls: old wooden beams and posts, a shaded courtyard, a quiet Ried village. India is in the details: the mustard tones, handcrafted pieces brought back from there, and the tropical tiled fresco in the bathroom, a nod to Mumbai, Mihika's home city.
The bedroom has a very comfortable queen-size bed, plus a trundle bed: ideal for a child, it can also sleep an adult if needed. A wardrobe and chest of drawers complete the space. The bathroom answers in kind, with a solid oak vanity, a stone basin, a lit mirror and a heated towel rail.
The kitchen is fully equipped (induction hob, oven, microwave), and the living area has a reading armchair, fast wifi and solid wood flooring. Outside, the shaded courtyard is waiting with its table, deck chairs and a barbecue on request.
